Monday Mixer

I was persuaded at some point last week to participate in the Monday Mixer Flash Fiction that is hosted by Klingorengi.
There are three categories, and in each there are three words, you can use all of them or select at least one from each category, and they must then appear in that order in your flash fiction. Oh, and also you have to do it in 150 words...no more...no less!

Here is my entry using the minimum requirements (baby steps) and my choice of words:

PLAYHOUSE
MANATEE
SANCTIMONIOUS

...and here it is!

It was cold in the playhouse. A draft blew through the cracks sending a shiver up her spine. She stretched her sleeves over her knuckles and hugged her knees tight to her chest. From her position she could just make him out, a shadow in the window, occasionally disappearing but returning every half an hour to check if she had moved.

She was comforted by the fact that she didn’t have to sit on the floor with the spiders but was instead precariously perched on a stuffed manatee. Even with that to sit on she knew that she would have to leave soon as her fingers had turned to ice and her teeth were chattering.

She would try and wait him out and then sneak in later. She couldn’t understand why he got so sanctimonious about it, it wasn’t even a moral issue, everyone knew that Goofy was a cow.

    1. Hey Mike, erm....YES!
Its like this - we all know Disney had his issues with political correctness - therefore..Mickey Mouse dates Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck dates Daisy Duck and thus if Goofy is dating Clarabelle the cow then he MUST be a cow! Just call me Sherlock....lol!

    3. Perhaps. I can concede that one. But, I've never seen a bull with long, floppy ears. Just sayin'. :-)

  3. You continue to impress Katy. How you can tell a complete tale in an exact number of words is magic I think. And I loved the ending. Goofy the cow! LOL Thanks.
